Waters Edge Spring Camporee 2024
Scouts and Scouters of the Waters Edge District- Welcome to a spring Water Extravaganza!
May 17-19, 2024
Letchworth State Park
The event will be open to all ScoutsBSA and Venture Crew units.
Your unit will embark on an outdoor adventure in beautiful Letchworth State Park, the “Grand Canyon of the East”. Experienced guides and leaders from Adventure Calls Outfitters (ACO) will lead you through the riffles and whitewater rapids of the Genesee River north of Letchworth’s signature falls. You will spend the morning enjoying a range of outdoor skills and demonstration stations and the afternoon on the river, should you choose. If you prefer to kick back and spend time on the trails in the park instead of on the water, you can opt out of the river float.
Scout and Outdoor Skills stations will include up to 10 of the following topics: Fire Starting, Orienteering, Knot Tying, Animal Tracks & Signs, First Aid, Fishing, Wilderness Survival, Fire Safety, Geology, Seneca Nation Lore, Nature, Geocaching, Fish & Wildlife Management, Bird Study, Reptile and Amphibian Study, Insect Study, Ham Radio, Park History
Camping will be by unit in the group camping area near the ACO headquarters (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y3jemfkepsT1oALv9). Units will need to provide their own food for the weekend. A unit leader guide will be published prior to the event.
Pricing for the event is as follows:
Base price per scout or adult: $60, includes group camping, park access, patch and all event and activity areas (except whitewater)
Add-on Option: Rafting on the River, +$50, individual selection (whitewater will be ~3 hours on the Genesee River in rafts and/or inflatable kayaks depending on water level; BSA Swimmer classification required)
You can select Base only or Base and Rafting Option.
Units must bring the following forms for all scouts and scouters participating:
Completed BSA Medical Form Part A&B for every participant-
