Trained patch - 2023

TRAINING IS . . .

the most important key to successful Scouting for both Scouts and Scouters. It is a cornerstone of the Scouting program. There are many opportunities available to youth and adults at various levels to further develop. However Seneca Waterways recognizes the need to make sure all Scouts receive the best program. The best programs are organized and run by well-trained leaders.

All registered volunteers with a Scouting unit are required to be trained in their position. Refer to the BSA Position Training Requirements, rev September 2021 for guidance on what trainings are required for your position.

Training offered in the BSA ranges from these position specific courses and other on-the-job training at your unit, all the way up to training offered at the BSA National Training Centers at Philmont Scout Ranch and the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Training is never over, and there is always a course available to you to help your skills and knowledge improve.

For information on what trainings are coming up and available in the Council, check out the 2022-23 Council Training Catalog, or stay up to date with the online Council calendar. Unsure of what training you need or what could help you grow in your skills? Visit our pages on Adult training, youth training, or the training roadmap for some guidance on what you can do next!
