Donation and Sponsorship
All costs for the program (staffing, supplies, handbooks, uniforms, registration fees, field trip/ field trip transportation, snacks and more) are funded by grants and donations from corporations, foundations and private individuals, so the program is delivered at little to no cost to the families involved.
We seek to expand funding in order to bring Scouting to more families in more public schools and community centers. The guiding influence of Scouting’s values is life-long. Your donation today can do a great deal for the lives of thousands of youths in the community we share.
Financial assistance is how we are able to offer Scouts memorable programming, trips and camping experiences. Most inner-city youth have never set up their own tent, cooked a hot meal in an open fire, or seen the sunrise over a mountaintop.
To sponsor a program contact Sr. District Executive Oliris.Ramos@Scouting.org
What is Scoutreach? Scoutreach Ensures Every Child has an Opportunity to Be a Scout
Scoutreach is the Council-wide initiative and the Boy Scouts of America’s traditional Scouts program redesigned and reconfigured to better fit the circumstances and meet the needs of youth and families in low-income, diverse, urban areas.
It is a values-based, before, during and/or after-school program which promotes leadership skills and character education designed to make Scouting available to at-risk, underserved youth in the City of Rochester and surrounding areas, at little to no cost to families.
The goal is creating a good value system, character development and leadership ability training in our youth while having fun. Boys and girls can belong to something bigger than themselves, gaining skills, confidence and teamwork abilities that will continue to serve them for life.
Scouting, by emphasizing ethics and moral values, addresses many of the social concerns of parents and youth in our country. Scouting prepares urban and rural youth to be leaders, to accept responsibility, and to care about principles and causes beyond their own self-interest.
How the Program is Run
The program is conducted by trained adult leaders – Program Specialist, who are assigned to sites by Seneca Waterways Council. Program Specialist develop solid relationships with chartered organizations to ensure that youth have the opportunity to join the Scouting program. Parent and guardian involvement is not required but encouraged.
Time/Schedule: 1 to 1.5 hours. 2-4 times a month. On occasional council sponsored events.
The goal is creating a good value system, character development and
leadership ability training in our youth while having fun.
