Western Gateway District
Serving the communities of Western Monroe County, including Greece, Hilton, Spencerport, Brockport, Hamlin, Gates, Chili, Churchville, and Scottsville.

Welcome to Our New District

Welcome to Western Gateway District! We are excited to be serving our communities with Scouting programs. Our District serves all of western Monroe County, including Greece, Hilton, Brockport, Hamlin, Spencerport, Gates, Chili, Churchville, and Scottsville. This area was formerly served by Lighthouse District and Black Creek District. With this new service area, the district leadership team is excited to build a strong culture of service and support all our Scouting units.

Let’s Grow Scouting – Together

As we move into the fall, it will be essential that we reach out to new families and grow our Scouting programs. We all know the impact that Scouting can have on youth and in our communities, and there is no better time than the fall to invite new members into our Scouting family at all levels – Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing. Our District and Council are expending tremendous resources to help make your unit’s growth plan successful. Everyone involved in the Scouting movement needs to make sure that we are taking steps to spread the message of Scouting to those we know personally.

Fall Camporee

November 5-7 will be the Fall Camporee at Sweden Town Park– Scouting Around the USA & Canada, hosted by Troop 197. Units will compete in 12 head-to-head competitive events to decide who will take home the title of champion. See the flyer here: 2021 Western Gateway Fall Camporee Flyer #3

We Want You!
With the formation of our new District, we are looking for more hands on deck at the District level to help accomplish our mission of supporting our units and our communities. There are a variety of District positions great and small, on both the District Committee and in the Commissioner Corps. If you or a Scouter you know would be interested in serving in a role, get in touch with the District Key 3 (listed at the right), your unit commissioner, or any Scouter you may know who already serves in a District role. We would love to have you! Volunteering at a District level puts you in touch with more Scouters and helps create a stronger network of Scouting in our service area.
District Roundtable
Unit leaders – remember to join us for District Roundtable at Cosgrove Middle School Library in Spencerport, 7pm on the first Wednesdays of each month. Roundtable is the best venue to receive information and supplemental training, as well as to network and idea share with Scouters from across our District. Each unit should be sending at least one leader to Roundtable each month. If you have any questions, please contact your unit commissioner or the Roundtable team listed in the sidebar.
