IN LIGHT of the new National Registration Fees announced last week, the Seneca Waterways Council is pleased to announce the development of a one time registration assistance fund of $50,000 to help units who are unable to accommodate the fee increase on such short notice.
As a recap, the National Registration Fee is going from $33 to $60 effective with the new charter year. When units (Packs, Troops and Crews) pay for their charters the first week of December they will be asked for $60 per youth member and $36 per adult plus $6 insurance.
Thanks in large part to the success of the 2019 Popcorn Sale and Friends of Scouting Campaign, the Executive Committee of the Seneca Waterways Council has created a one time Registration Assistance Fund to help units that are unable to secure the extra funding. Units who need financial support can apply for assistance up until November 27th and award letters will be sent to later than December 3rd. The unit application can be found here.
Units will need to verify the number of youth who will be rechartering prior to sending in their assistance application. The $50,000 assistance fund will in no way cover 100% of the increase in registration costs to units. Only units that really need help should apply. Funds will be awarded to units on a per head basis (i.e. $5 or $10 per youth member). Grants will only be made to offset a portion of the $27 registration fee increase. Units who pay for their charter online will receive a reimbursement check. Units who pay for their charter via the Council Service Center will have their award applied to their unit account to pay for the charter at processing time.
Thank you to all the units and membership of the Council. Thanks to your continued support of the Council we are in a financial position to be able to offer this assistance to those who need it most.
Please send application to Tiffany Drum at Tiffany.Drum@scouting.org or drop off/mail to the Seneca Waterways Council Service Center to arrive no later than end of business November 27, 2019.
